About Moissanite

Is moissanite a real gemstone?

Yes. Moissanite has its own mineral identity — silicon carbide — and occurs naturally in meteorites. Henri Moissan first discovered it in 1893 in a meteorite crater in Arizona. The moissanite used in jewellery today is lab grown, which gives it traceable origin and consistent quality. It is a real gemstone with its own chemistry, not a copy of anything else.

Is moissanite the same as cubic zirconia?

No — and this is the most important distinction. Cubic zirconia has a Mohs hardness of 8 to 8.5 and begins to cloud, scratch, and dull with regular wear within one to two years. Moissanite sits at 9.25 Mohs — the second hardest gemstone used in jewellery after diamond — and does not degrade this way. They are different materials with fundamentally different durability.

How does moissanite compare to diamond?

Differently, not worse. Diamond is the hardest natural material at Mohs 10. Moissanite at 9.25 is equally suitable for daily wear. The key optical difference: diamond disperses white light for a bright, clean sparkle. Moissanite has a higher refractive index (2.65 vs diamond's 2.42), giving it more fire and rainbow dispersion — especially vivid in direct sunlight. Neither is objectively better. They are different stones with different character.

Will moissanite scratch or lose its brilliance?

No. At 9.25 Mohs, moissanite will not scratch under everyday conditions. To keep it looking its best: clean periodically with mild soap, warm water, and a soft cloth.

Is moissanite ethically sourced?

Yes. Lab grown moissanite requires no mining, no conflict origin concern, and no environmental extraction cost.

Sizing

How do I find my ring size?

Use our Ring Size Guide. Ring size is the one thing you cannot fix after the fact without a return, so it is worth getting right. If unsure, WhatsApp us and we will walk you through it.

Are bracelet and necklace lengths adjustable?

Most Myrae bracelets and necklaces have a small adjustment range. Product pages specify the exact length and any adjustment options. If you have a specific fit requirement, contact us before ordering.

Orders and Shipping

Is shipping free?

Yes. Complimentary shipping on all orders across India, with no minimum purchase required.

How long does delivery take?

• Metro Cities (Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad): 2-4 business days
• Tier 2 Cities: 3-5 business days
• Other locations: 5-7 business days

Orders placed before 3 PM are processed the same day.

How do I track my order?

Once your piece ships, you will receive a tracking number via both WhatsApp and email.

What does the packaging look like?

Every Myrae piece arrives in our signature ivory packaging with a travel pouch — designed for safekeeping, travel, and gifting. It is ready to give as a gift without additional wrapping.

Do you ship internationally?

Not currently. If you are outside India and want a piece, contact us directly.

Returns and Refunds

What is your return policy?

You can return any unworn piece within 7 days of delivery. The jewellery must be unused and in original condition, in original Myrae packaging with tags attached, accompanied by the invoice. Full details: Return and Refund Policy.

What cannot be returned?

• Customised or personalised pieces made specifically for you
• Jewellery showing wear, damage, or alterations
• Sale or clearance items (unless defective)
• Items without original packaging, tags, or invoice

How do I initiate a return?

Email inquiries@myrae.co.in within 7 days of delivery with your order number and reason for return. We send return instructions within 24 hours. Return shipping costs are on you unless we made an error.

How long does a refund take?

We inspect your return within 2 business days of receiving it. Approved refunds are processed within 5-7 business days, returned to your original payment method via Razorpay. Original shipping charges are not refunded.

What if I receive a damaged or wrong item?

Contact us within 48 hours of delivery with clear photos or video. An unboxing video helps us resolve replacements faster. We replace it immediately at no cost to you.
